Week of January 31 - February 4, 2022

First Grade has been learning about Lunar New Year and the different ways it is celebrated around the world.  To help us celebrate, the students made lanterns.

In Math, the Super Green Group has been learning about counting by 10's.  As a fun activity, to help extend their learning, the students made skip counting ice cream cones.  The students each picked their own number to start off their cones, and then continued counting by 10's for the rest of the ice cream scoops.  When they were finished, each student had quite a tall cone!

In Math, the Gold Group has been learning about place value and comparing numbers.  As a fun activity, to help extend their learning, the students made number monsters.  The students each picked a number out of a bucket and then created their monster around that number.  The students had to figure out how many tens and ones their number had to determine how much hair and how many teeth their monster had.  Then the students each had to pick a number that was greater and less than their monster's number.  Both activities were a lot of fun!
