Week of March 21 - 25, 2022

This week, First Grade led the prayer service for the third week of Lent.  The students worked very hard to write the service.  They spent time each day practicing their lines and the song.  I was so proud of the job they each did!  We had many visitors stop by throughout the day to congratulate the class on a job well done!  Thank you for all of the families who were able to attend.

To cap off Spirit Week, HCA celebrated with pajama day on Thursday.  The students always love having a chance to be extra cozy at school!  The class loves to show off their pajamas to their friends.  We even had 3 mermaids join us!

Week of March 14 - 18, 2022

Last week, First Grade made a special St. Patrick's Day Bingo for our friends at Little Flower Manor.  Since the game was going to be for St. Patrick's Day, the class brainstormed some items that are associated with the holiday.  Pictures of these items, instead of numbers, were used to mark each space on the boards.  Each student was given 4 sets of pictures to choose from when creating his/her board. The students decided which pictures to use and where to place them on their bingo boards.  Every single board the class made was different!
The class did a fantastic job and really put a lot of care and effort into making the game.

The residents of Little Flower Manor have been curious to learn a little more about the wonderful students who have been creating such wonderful gifts for them the past few months.  The children each made a little fact sheet about themselves, so the residents could get to know them!

We are sure our friends at Little Flower Manor are going to really enjoy playing their new St. Patrick's Day Bingo.  Especially one that was created with so much love!

Week of March 7 - 11, 2022

At the end of February, First Grade filled up the classroom bucket due to their teamwork and great behavior.  The reward they received was an extra recess.  Monday was the perfect day to cash in that reward!  It was so nice to feel the sun and the warm breeze on our skin!  As you can see from the smiles, fun was had by all!

On Thursday, the school got together for Community Time.  This was the first time since before winter break that the school families were able to meet.  The children were very excited to be able to reunite with their families.

Mrs. Goyer and Mr. Purnell gave a presentation about CRS and the rice bowls.  The students learned about all of the good that the money donated to CRS does around the world to help those in need.  At the end of our time together, the students received a strip of paper on which they each wrote a message of hope or a prayer for the people of Ukraine.  The pieces of paper will be turned into a paper chain to show HCA's support for Ukraine.
