 Week of February 7 - 11, 2021

First Grade has been continuing with our Animal Science unit.  Last week, we discussed different things animals who do not migrate or hibernate need to do to survive the winter.  The students discovered several animals which change colors in winter in order to camouflage in with their surroundings.  The First Graders also learned about the types of homes that animals need to find or build to survive the cold winter temperatures.

To help extend their learning, the students each randomly chose an animal which is awake or hibernates during the winter months.  Next, the students were each given some toothpicks and marshmallows with which they needed to build a home that their animal could fit in and would protect their animal.  Check out their creations below!
