 Week of January 10 - 14, 2022

First Grade has been very excited to be back together again after our Christmas break!  We are looking forward to all of the things we will be doing during the second half of the school year.

Last week, we were fortunate enough to have George Pagano, a HCA alumni, come and talk to the lower school about his 2016 rowing trip across the Atlantic Ocean.  George and his partner even set two world records on this trip!

Before meeting with Mr. Pagano, the students watched a short video of his trip and heard about the details from a newspaper article that was written regarding the trip.  The class's favorite part was seeing the HCA symbol and name on the side of Mr. Pagano's boat!

During the assembly, Mr. Pagano talked to the students about how he became interested in rowing and competing in the  "Talisker Whisky Challenge".  He shared some pictures of things he saw along the way and pieces of equipment that he used throughout the competition.

The students were very interested in what Mr. Pagano had to say and asked several very thoughtful questions by which Mr. Pagano was very impresssed!

First Grade really enjoyed meeting with Mr. Pagano and hearing all about his story!
