 Week of October 4th - 8th 2021

This week was full of activity in First Grade!  We began the week with the Blessing of the Animals.  The students were excited to be able to see each other's pets for the service.  The school saw a variety of animals at school, like turtles, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, and even Mrs. Minner's pig!  Everyone was very excited!

We also have been learning about fire safety in First Grade since it is National Fire Prevention Week.  It just so happened that we had a fire drill on Thursday and some of our local fire fighters were there to supervise.  What perfect timing!  After the drill ended, they showed us one of the trucks and took a picture with the class.

We also finished our math chapter on addition this week.  We started our next chapter on subtraction.  One of our first activities was playing the game "Subtraction Slides" with a partner (or 2).  The class used dice, counting chips, and unifix cubes during the game.  Everyone agreed they really enjoyed playing!
