 Week of September 27 - October 1, 2021

This week, First Grade took part in the first Community Time of the 2021-2022 school year.  It was very exciting!  This month's Community Time was a celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month.  We had a beautiful day to be able to participate in the activities.  It was a fun way to get our day and our week started!

To start things off, First and Second Grade played a game of Sardines together.  Sardines is a popular game played on playgrounds across Latin America.  Sardines is best described as a game of reverse hide and go seek.  One friend hides and as others find him/her, they have to hide in the same spot with the friend hiding.  As the original person hiding is discovered, and more and more friends are with him/her, the space becomes quite cramped and everyone hiding feels like they are in a tin of sardines!

After we played a few rounds of Sardines outside, First Grade came back into the gym for a Latinx dance party!  We got to hear some great music that got our energy up, saw lots of great dancing, and even had several conga lines that formed.  HCA's first Community Time of the school year was a big hit with First Grade!
