Week of May 9 - 13, 2022
In math, First Grade has been learning about graphing and tallying. The class has been working on a fun project to help further extend their learning. The students had the choice to create a pizza or a cupcake. They chose which toppings they would like to use and how many of each would be added. After their pizzas or cupcakes were finished, the students had to complete a graph based on their creation.
Our service partner this year has been Little Flower Manor. The class has made various cards, Christmas door hangers, and St. Patrick's Day bingo for the residents. The class also created "All About Me" posters for the residents to help them get to know the students a little better since we haven't been able to visit them in person this year. The class was very surprised to receive a package in the mail from Little Flower Manor which was for them! Inside, were "All About Me" posters some of the residents created about themselves for the students. We have been enjoying reading them all, little by little.
The students have been excited to learn how the residents of Little Flower Manor have similar likes and hobbies. It has helped us get to know them better, but it also has helped them discover, how even though they might not be close in ages, they really aren't that different from each other. One of the class' favorite discoveries is how many of the residents' favorite shows is "Golden Girls"! ☺
